nice rice Shanghai Flagship Store designed by say architects (China)

Nice Rice Shanghai conveys the essence of "harmony in diversity" through minimalist, versatile clothing, embodying the harmonious and coexistent spirit of Eastern culture. SAY believes in cultural sustainability alongside the sustainable use of materials, creating a "Rice Barn Shelter" concept for Hao Fan Shanghai.

The store’s original entrance featured a wide horizontal beam dividing the space. SAY extended the traditional siheyuan roof form into the space, using unified colors to elongate the visual height, crafting a minimalist eaves storefront. Inside, intricate decorations were removed, replaced with lacquer artworks to highlight a more inclusive consumer space, promoting free interaction.

The store offers both coffee and clothing, with an extended space serving as a public leisure area, welcoming all visitors. The open entrance not only serves as a cultural sustainability experiment but also as a distinctive spatial feature. The siheyuan’s extension adapts traditional elements into a cohesive space, blending tradition and modern fashion seamlessly.

SAY aims to revive traditional design elements through spatial sensory experiences, resonating with urban youth and fostering cultural identity, ensuring the continuity of Eastern culture in a new context.
