STARTUP NEXUS designed by KOKUYO Co.,Ltd (Japan)
As hybrid workstyles increase due to social changes and working places are no longer limited, we will create new connections that transcend the boundaries of conventional thinking and accelerate creativity and communication beyond the realm of the conventional.
The moment you enter the space, you will feel that "something is about to start! The emphasis is on creating such a sense of foreboding.
To this end, we scatter items that at first glance are difficult to understand how to use or have various uses, creating a state in which the rough stones of ideas are always lying around. The blue cubes and the wavy terraced floor space are examples of this.
We also focused on the various ways in which people interact with each other, aiming to create an environment that invites users to experience new ways of working.
Architecturally, a large beam in the center of the room divides the space in two, a weak point. However, by emphasizing the flooring and the design of the upper and lower sections with line lighting under the beam, we succeeded in making the space appear as one without discomfort.
In creating the space, we focus on the movement of the line of sight. This is because the experience of eye contact is essential as a trigger for communication. Once through the door, the main flow line that goes all the way to the back of the building spreads out in front of you, giving you a bird's-eye view of the facility. The change in the line of sight from up to down also changes one's mood and ideas. The line of sight created in this way sometimes becomes absorbed in oneself, sometimes crosses and develops, and becomes an opportunity to create a diverse future.
The people you meet will accelerate various inspirations with furniture that can be varied according to the situation rather than a fixed layout as in a regular office, together with the dimming and color control functions of the lighting.
The space can also be adjusted for events in addition to normal business operations. A large screen and ceiling-mounted speakers enhance a variety of events.
In order to increase the number of points of contact, the space must be used for a long time.
Layout and fixtures that do not limit usage, and mechanisms that allow the number of people using the space to be greater than the number of chairs will adapt to future changes in the social context.
In addition, after completion, updates were made based on feedback from users, making the space even more long-lasting and beloved.
