Skyrim designed by NISSO Design
The client is a 65-year-old couple who has lived in the United States for a long time and returns to Taiwan occasionally. Their desired style is American minimalist, calm and casual, with plenty of storage.
Given this, the design team did not apply complicated designs. First, the design team removed the façade between the living room and the study room to enlarge the space. The design team also used cool colors as the main tone, together with tiles, grilles, and system cabinets. Finally, the design was embellished with distinctive lighting to create an elegant and luxurious feeling.
The special feature of this project is "matching the interior design with soft furnishings." The design team used gray furniture as inspiration. The TV wall, foyer façade, flooring, and dining room all use imported tiles in the same color. The tiles vary in material to create different visual effects and are edged with titanium plated trim.
As for the living room, the design team used a wooden grille with gray paint to decorate the beams to weaken the presence of this volume and divide the living room and the study room. The grille on the façade next to the dining room is designed as a hidden door, and the space inside is a storage room. Instead of a pure white façade, the design team used a color flash of gray and white here.
There is a highlight in the foyer. The design team inserted a black system cabinet with drawers on the façade and an acrylic system cabinet on the right side for storage. The white system cabinet next to the door has a dressing mirror for the clients to organize their appearance when they go out. System boards are applied throughout the space, with various colors and textures. Finally, titanium-plated trim is embedded to enrich the visual effect of the pure color palette.
Wooden flooring is for the interior. In the public area, stone grain tiles are paved in the entrance, TV wall, and kitchen. Meanwhile, the storage is made of customized system cabinets. In the kitchen, in addition to the gray system cabinets, an acrylic door is installed on the other side. In the private area, the façade of the second bedroom is decorated with a grille made of system boards.
On the other hand, low formaldehyde, anti-fading, anti-mold, and anti-bacterial latex paint is used in the whole space, which can be maintained by wiping.
This project is a newly completed house on the 30th floor. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, a dining room, and an open-plan study room.
It is worth mentioning that the black system cabinet at the foyer is not fixed with nails but with a joggling technique on the large surface of the stone grain tiles. Because of the texture of the tiles, it is difficult to construct.
The dark wood-grained cabinet in the open-plan study room is embedded with a light bar, giving it a storage and display function. In this way, the dark-colored cabinets do not appear too boring and retain the casual feeling that the clients seek.
