A Resort-inspired Hong Kong Townhouse for Millennials designed by Hintegro Limited

A Resort-inspired Hong Kong Townhouse

for a Millennial Couple with their beloved pets and supercar collection

highlighting affordable materials in luxurious executions, made in Hong Kong craftsmanship, Japanese & Chinese-inspired design elements blended into the dream place balancing functionality & aesthetics.

Hintegro completed a residential interior design project located in the low-density luxury estate in Hong Kong. The project is home to two young executives, a couple in their early 30s. In this townhouse, Hintegro designs details to realise the homeowners’ dream to “come home feel like holiday” and to accommodate the owners’ beloved Welsh corgi and Shiba inu, as well as a collection of supercars and high-fashion collections.

The adjoined living and dining rooms are decorated with Hermès pieces, some of which were acquired prior to the renovation, including Les Trotteuses D’Hermès Occasional Table, as well as a colourful, tropical-inspired collection of porcelain tableware. This inspired Hintegro to incorporate colours like walnut and beige into the living spaces as an overall tone, which complements the pieces in orange—a signature of the French luxury brand—as well as green on the tableware.

Pet- friendly Considerations - The owners recalled the hectic in their previous home of the dogs scratching and biting furniture and struggled about using wooden chairs and tables. On a wooden dining table designed by Hintegro and created by local carpenter Yat Muk, metal legs painted yellow are installed, which stops the dogs from causing damage. The bottom of wooden bi-folding doors that separates the open kitchen from the living and dining spaces is installed with copper to provide a straightforward solution to scratch marks from the dogs’ paws. With this touch, the scratches will still be visible but they could be sanded down.

Opening Up the Kitchen to Encourage Interactions - The kitchen’s layout was revamped to be used more efficiently and less cramped. Adding a folding door has opened up the space and allowed the design to extend from the living and dining area. The island set in the middle of the kitchen has become a gathering point for the couple to enjoy private times after dinner with some fruits, warm moments like watching the dogs playing in the house and garden.

Affordable Materials In Luxurious Executions - The wall behind the headboard in the master bedroom features green brick, a material produced in Guangdong that is widely used in the construction of traditional village houses across southern China. This is an affordable and timeless material that the team had always wanted to work with, especially it is a resonance with the original pitched roof in the house. Hintegro believes that luxury does not mean using a lot of expensive materials, by detailed and luxurious executions, we can turn affordable materials extra valuable.

Preserving Hong Kong Craftsmanship - Apart from the locally-made dining table by Yat Muk, the copper basin is another hidden gem in the house. Hintegro commissioned Ping Kee, one of a very last few coppersmith shops in Hong Kong for a copper basin in the powder room. Ping Kee has been supplying bowls to local herbal tea shops and Chinese hot pot restaurants since 1940s. With time, the material of the basin changes colour, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece in this home.

"Design indeed changes life" - all you need is the right designer to do that for you, and Hintegro surely had a job well done for me and my family. – Testimonial from the homeowners
