To our future - SCRAP MATERIAL UPCYCLE PROJECT designed by NOMURA Co.,Ltd

The amount of industrial waste generated in Japan amounts to 412 million tons per year, and domestic private companies generate nearly 1 million tons of scrap per day.

We are the leading space design & construction company in Japan that has a 130years history.

We designers who are exposed to various materials in our daily design work.

We also believe that we have a responsibility to take the lead in disseminating information about the recycling of limited earth resources to society and the local community. 

We manage this project as a social contribution activity by the young designers. This project is an upcycling activity that exhibits "SCRAP" discharged from building materials and interior materials as "MESSAGE ART FURNITURE".

We reuse recycled materials, and also return it to the earth. We enclose and supplement pulverized waste materials as furniture in a transparent skin using recycled vinyl.

This exhibition space is designed by the motif of a traditional Japanese garden model "KARESANSUI" to appeal our message. This exhibition will go around outside offices and public spaces and other fairs.

After a certain period of exhibition, it will be a project related to the SDG'S activity, in which the materials are returned to the interior and construction sites as interior resources.

The next waste materials will be enclosed, supplemented, and exhibited.

In order to deliver the message to more people, we held a launch exhibition in the entrance space of our office to recruit corporate sponsors too. During the exhibition, the designer gave a live presentation and attended the exhibition, successfully acquiring sponsors and supporters.

We hope that by seeing, learning, and touching “interior scrap materials” that we do not see in our daily lives, we hope that it will be an “opportunity” to think about a better future and a sustainable society. We are exhibiting with an installation-like idea that allows you to feel the message with your heart.

This project is also active today for our future society.
