History is the future designed by Dayi Design (China)

This project reimagines the former site of Liu Yong University by preserving the historic wooden doors through acrylic panels, mixing traditional and modern materials, and adding technology elements like laser lights to celebrate the past while inspiring new vitality, all within a thoughtfully designed space using natural light and unified materials.

For the cyberelement, the designer only uses its form, not its spiritual core of destruction and destruction. In the special period of the current epidemic, this case is also used to express the value of the prosperous market and better expectations for the future.

Innovation:

Salvaging and preserving the old wooden doors from the original building by sealing them in acrylic panels and displaying them as a screen creates a historical atmosphere while allowing a modern reimagining of the space.

Creativity:

Creative use of materials like acrylic to recreate traditional Chinese architectural elements like eaves in a modern way.

Adding laser lights and projections to enhance the futuristic feeling while referencing classical Chinese scenes.

Functionality:

Thoughtful design of skylights to bring natural light in accordance to the latitude maximizes functionality of the space.

Integration of cyber and science elements alongside traditional forms to advance the themes of time and space.

Unified material palette and design language ensures the space feels elegant and harmonious despite mix of modern/traditional elements.

Sustainability:

Reuse of salvaged doors from the original building preserves the history and memory of the place in a sustainable way.
