“VILLAGE BOOK STORE” offering a new lifestyle for people

One of the origins of the book is to convey information to people through words. Chinese kanji have been created based on the footprints of birds walking on sandy beaches in the era of the Yellow Emperor. The letters have then been used in various ways. The great poet “Li Bai” sang nature and humanity by words, his poems still linger on the hearts of people. Meanwhile, modern people have less access to books and are more likely to get information from the virtual world online.

Human beings are physical creatures, so we feel fulfilled by interacting with other people and feeling nature. In this project, we created a book-themed entertainment center for communication with others. By creating such a “book village” that would be loved by the local people could contribute to a new lifestyle for them.

A village is a compact collection of houses, shops, small stalls, squares and parks where people gather, and other essential items for residents. By combining the warm “village” which is the starting point of such a lifestyle with a bookstore as a lifestyle shop, we have created a new, while nostalgic space as the “VILLAGE BOOK STORE” where you can enjoy a fresh experience.

This bookstore is divided into six areas in a huge space of over 4000 square meters. VILLAGE PAVILION & BOOK FOREST area surrounded by overlapping house-shaped pavilions and a huge 8m-high bookshelf, LIFESTYLE MARKET area with retailers related to various lifestyles, BOOK ART TOWER area with various large and small bookshelves displaying old books and old living tools, BOOK EVENT area which has both a large hall for regularly held events and a cafe that can also be used as a lounge, CHILDREN'S BOOK area where the bookstore, stores for children and parent-child cafes are gathered, decorated by a huge tree, and a BOOK TERRACE area on the 5th floor where open-style cafes and pavilions line the atrium. In addition, different stair flow lines are set up everywhere, and one of the features of enjoying this bookstore is the migration line that walks around the village up, down, left, and right. Such a flow line plan and randomly arranged VILLAGE PAVILIONs form narrow alley spaces and open spaces, creating a place where people become to contact with each other physically as if strolling through the village.
