NIKKA MUSEUM designed by NOMURA Co.,Ltd
This year, Yoichi distillery will mark the 90th anniversary of its opening. This distillery has served as the ideal location for Masataka Taketsuru, the founder and father of modern Japanese Whisky, to craft his world renowned Scottish inspired Whisky.
We designed the space as a museum to evoke the essence of NIKKA WHISKY. This is achieved by splitting the area into main three booths: The Blend’s Lab, Story of NIKKA WHISKY and Distiller’s talk. Therefore, we were challenged to create a space that caters towards NIKKA WHISKY’S varying customer segments and needs. We designed the atmosphere to allow customers to enjoy their experience at the facility in a manner reminiscent of enjoying a satisfying glass of whiskey. Our dedication to detail within this museum conveys the meticulous detail and commitment to quality which goes into the crafting of each and every NIKKA WHISKY product.
While pushing the boundaries to create an atmosphere which captures the spirit of Japanese whisky in fine detail, we have also ensured to incorporate the latest technology. This consists of videos with languages other than Japanese and a translation system using QR codes, to be inclusive of tourists from all over the world.
This spatial design utilizes a part of the distillery originally built as storage, taking on new life as an attractive facility which encapsulates the 90 years of history of NIKKA WHISKY. This one and only WHISKY museum will carry on the passion for the NIKKA WHISKY by Masataka Taketsuru.
