Aroma Square Lounge designed by KOKUYO Co.,Ltd. (The New Black)

CHARGE STAND – Resting Area for People Who Are Busy and Working Hard Every Day

When renovating the workplace cafeteria, we interviewed tenants in the building and came to two major conclusions: the cafeteria was mainly used by workers too busy to eat out, and there were no places in this building where they could relax alone and have a break.

The concept of Aroma Square LOUNGE is a rest area for people who are busy and working hard every day.

Its design is based on white, symbolizing cleanliness and brightness. With the natural wood texture, counters with a plastered finish in the motif of the earth with soil and stone, and various decorations with green plants arranged by flower artists, we aimed to create a comfortable space in the image of the blessings of nature and the harvest.

1. Usability

Diverse needs are accommodated by dividing the space into three zones; an area for taking a quick meal, an area for relaxing with colleagues, and a co-working area for working intensively.

In addition, each area comes equipped with seating in various styles so that customers can choose their favorite seat according to their mood and purpose of using the space.

Free Wi-Fi is also available, with about 80% of the seats also equipped with a power outlet. Thus, this lounge can be used as an extensive office space by tenant companies for meetings and intensive work.

2. Beauty

Through the natural wood texture, counters with a plastered finish in the motif of the earth with soil and stone, and various decorations with green plants arranged by flower artists such as a window sash with pressed flowers in the glass, we aimed to create a comfortable space with the image of “the blessings of nature and the harvest”.

3. Sustainability

From the perspective of cafe management, all coffee beans for the lounge are procured only from farms engaged in sustainable efforts, no plastic containers are used, and kitchen garbage is composted to use for cultivating vegetables.

As interior finishing materials, we used cloth dyed with vegetables that had gone to waste due to food loss for the upholstery of the sofa benches. In addition, we selected gravel imitating rice grains and coffee beans for plaster aggregate to conjure the blessings of nature in food.
