Refreshing light designed by Chen Huiming Interior Decoration Design Engineering Co., Ltd

INSPIRATION / IDEA

The height of the site is excellent. The first floor is 3.5 meters high, and the second floor is 2.8 meters high. The designer takes common materials such as concrete and glass blocks to create a space with a natural atmosphere related to light. Everywhere people see or touch, there is an unadorned look. The space is relaxing without being overwhelming, and at the same time, it reflects the core of the space design that the designer intends to show.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DIFFERENTIATION

The project uses a large number of natural materials. Most of the materials have strong or vivid textures, which are ideal for highlighting the changes in light and shadow and their beauty.

● The glittering entrance

The entrance of the commercial space is made of Italian glass blocks that shine like a square diamond. The blocks contain micro-metals, which make them appear more delicate under light and shadow. The brickwork is meticulously crafted, with tightly welded joints and reinforced joints. The door is made of stainless steel and cement mortar to ensure that the structure remains strong even without solid walls.

● Grayscale space

The height of the interior is emphasized by the grayscale. The designer uses marble, concrete, inorganic paint, and pebble dashing to show different shades of gray. At the same time, Belgium lighting fixtures, known for their minimalist style, are installed to enhance the impression of the space and showcase the rustic and natural atmosphere.

The site was an empty space. It has 114.3 square meters and two floors.

On the first floor, there is a staff office, a multi-functional meeting room, and a manager’s office. Here, the storage cabinets and stairs are planned on the same side to reduce the partition walls to broaden the vision. On the second floor is the customer meeting area. The designer takes the change of flooring material to imply different styles. The first floor is suitable for young customers, while the second floor is more oriented to the aesthetics of the older generation.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION/FUNCTION

Visitors are first attracted by a large glass block wall. It is impossible to see the whole interior at the entrance with the flow of light. The interior has a comfortable height and a minimalistic and elegant atmosphere for people’s minds to settle down. The designer has taken into account the spacing in every corner and furniture arrangement so that people will not bump into things when walking. Even the toilet paper in the washroom is placed at an ergonomic height, which shows the designer's practical consideration.

FORM

"Discussing what home looks like in a pure space"

In the noisy city, with the different angles of daylight, the project is like a shining diamond hidden in the hustle and bustle. The project is the designer's studio. It represents the designer's expression of aesthetics, as the space is the most personal expression. The designer does not follow the trend but seeks the most realistic look between practicality, rationality, and aesthetics.

The color scheme is only pure light and dark. The project expresses the most realistic gesture of the space with simple colors. The space is like a canvas and the thoughts are like brushes, the designer extends the beauty to every corner under the guidance of light and shadow. Everyone's aesthetic is different, but only a minimalistic space can show diversity.

IMPACT /SUSTAINABILITY

In terms of materials, except for pebble dashing, glass blocks, and stone which are highlighted by their characteristics, KEIM mineral paint is zero formaldehyde. This means that no harmful substances will remain after the project is completed to avoid harming people's health.

The first floor is lighted with a large glass block wall to provide lighting but privacy. With sufficient natural light, electricity consumption for lighting can be reduced during the day. The aluminum windows on the second floor are installed with adjustable louvers, which can regulate indoor temperature and reduce heat pollution.

For ventilation, there are no windows on the first floor, but the air circulation system is installed to keep the air quality. On the second floor, there are electric upward-exhaust windows to allow fresh air to enter the interior.

Furthermore, there is no awning outside the site, so if rainwater spills into the interior, it will cause cleaning problems. Therefore, the first floor is designed to be pushed inward, and the second floor is installed with electric lift-up exhaust windows to facilitate drainage.
